Prof. Vitaliy Lomakin

Professor, Electrical & Computer Engineering · Director, Center for Memory & Recording Research

Vitaliy Lomakin received his M.Sc. from Kharkiv National University in 1996 and his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Tel Aviv University in 2003. From 2002 to 2005, he was a Postdoctoral Associate and Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign. He joined UC San Diego in 2005 and was elevated to Fellow of the IEEE in 2021.

His research develops efficient computational techniques and analytical models for multiphysics problems involving electromagnetics, micromagnetics, first-principles simulations, and imaging, and applies these methods to magnetic, optical, and microwave materials and devices.
